What are TNLA Certifications all about?

TNLA certifications provide Texas consumers a means of creating, identifying, and promoting professionalism in the nursery and landscape industry. Established in 1976 by the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association, TNLA certifications are not related to any state-authorized program.

Texas Certified Landscape Professional (TCLP)

Landscape contractor supervisors, owners, and managers qualify for this self-study course followed by an exam. The exam covers 20 topics including management, landscape and irrigation design, resource efficiency, building materials, botany, turf, and pruning.

Texas Certified Nursery Professional (TCNP)

Retail nursery employees, managers and owners qualify for this self study course consisting of 4 parts: Plant Culture, Plant Identification, merchandising, and Landscape Design.

Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional (TMCNP)

The TMCNP program is currently undergoing revision. Please check back periodically for updates.

Already Certified?

Nearly any educational event can be qualify for CEU points required to maintain your certification. Below is a short list of TNLA events. View the TNLA online calendar for most current listings.

If you attend an event that is not pre-approved, download and complete a CEU Reporting Form to document your participation and fax it to the TNLA office 512.280.3012.

TNLA Quarterly Quiz

Each quarter, TNLA produces an article and a quiz. Those holding TCNP, TCLP, TMCNP certifications can complete the quiz and return it to TNLA to earn one CEU credit. This article and quiz also appear in TNLA Green magazine.
