TNLA is over 1400 Landscape Contractors, Growing Nurseries, Retail
Garden Centers, and Green Industry Suppliers in Texas dedicated

representation. As an association, we take advantage of
economies of scale to drive down the costs of these programs, succeeding

Education opportunities for Managers and Owners
Management
Workshop
This day-and-a-half workshop for owners, managers, and supervisors
informs attendees about current industry issues and near future
developments. The Management Workshop is held annually in January.
Pre-Expo
Education Conference
TNLA’s biggest education opportunity takes place on the Thursday
preceding the Nursery/Landscape
Expo every August. Sixty hours of seminars designed for both
management and field technicians cover a wide variety of industry-specific
issues.

Held on the tradeshow floor during the Nursery/Landscape Expo in
August, the TNLA Education Lounge connects participants with industry
experts from a variety of specialty areas.

Library
TNLA houses a comprehensive library of resources relevant to the
Green Industry. Materials include information on water conservation
methods, specialty crop insurance, business management, and safety.
Library materials are available to all TNLA members free of charge.

industry and legislative developments. A full year subscription

Seminars
Members can prepare their employees for the busy season by having
them attend an Employee Seminar. Eight employee seminars are held
throughout Texas in February, so wherever your business is, there
is sure to be an Employee Seminar nearby.
TNLA Education
& Research Foundation
TNLA members ensure that the Green Industry has a vibrant future
by funding the TNLA Education and Research Foundation. The foundation
supports Green Industry research in conjunction with Texas’
agricultural universities and also issues as many as 19 college-level
scholarships annually to promising Green Industry students. TNLA
members are proud to have helped send $586,600 to 406 scholarship
recipients to date. Additionally, five research projects have received
funding totaling $25,000.

by issuing its annual awards. Awards represent a valuable symbol

In Landscaping (TEIL) Award
The TEIL Awards are the landscaping community’s chance to
show off outstanding projects from the previous year. Gold, Silver,
Bronze and Honorable Mention awards are given to as many deserving
recipients as apply.
Arp Award
Issued once annually to an individual who has given outstanding
service to the industry.
Young Leader
Award
Given annually to an individual who has shown extreme leadership

Legislative & Regulatory Representation – the protection
of a united front
Green Industry businesses are particularly vulnerable to legislative
and regulatory action related to irrigation, labor, immigration,
pesticides, air quality, and a host of other hot-button issues.
TNLA is the only organization representing the Green Industry at
the state capitol year-round. TNLA is actively involved in lobbying
and currently represents the Green Industry on seven legislative

Recent Legislative Accomplishments
- TNLA blocked passage of a bill that would have prevented everyone
except degreed, licensed landscape architects from selling the
service of drawing plans for commercial landscapes.
- TNLA achieved removal of a requirement in the state implementation
plan that would have prevented the use of two-stroke engines between
the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon during daylight savings
time months.
- TNLA served as the voice of the Landscape Industry on the Water
Conservation Implementation Task Force, ensuring that Water Conservation
Best Management Practice guidelines are not detrimental to the
industry.
