The TNLA Foundation Mission is to advance in the broadest sense the environmentally beneficial use of plants, and the interests of the Green Industry in Texas, through funding education and research. The TNLA Foundation was established in 1992. A nine-member Board of Trustees plus two staff-appointed positions manage the business of the Foundation.  ​

To date, we've already provided $1,141,550 in scholarships and over 32 hours of essential training to 50 professionals through the TNLA Leadership Bootcamp; with your gift donation, you could help us achieve so much more!

Research

The main purposes of the Foundation is:
  • To conduct fundraising activities on behalf of and to support the overall purposes of the Foundation.
  • To operate exclusively for the purposes of awarding funds to horticulture/landscape students for their continued education and to award funds for research in horticulture/landscape areas of interest in Texas.
  • To enhance the future of the industry by offering educational programs for professional development, mentorship, and leadership 

TNLA LEADERSHIP BOOTCAMP


The TNLA Leadership Bootcamp, spearheaded by the TNLA Foundation, is a specialized training initiative aimed at nurturing leaders within the Texas Green Industry, fostering both personal and professional growth. Handpicked groups of twenty participants will engage in a series of four comprehensive sessions, strategically crafted to instill essential leadership competencies and their practical application in everyday scenarios. This exclusive program is tailored for professionals operating within the Green Industry.

TNLA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Since 1968, the Foundation, TAN and TNLA have awarded 760 scholarships totaling, $1,141,550.
 
This year the TNLA Foundation was able to provide $22,250 in scholarship awards to a group of up-and-coming professionals who will graduate from a Texas College and enter into the Green Industry workforce. To review the list of these amazing individuals click button below.

BECOME A SCHOLARSHIP DONOR

Named Scholarship
($1,000 per year for three years total commitment. The scholarship carries the name of your choice.)
​Endowments
Endowments are established in the amount of $10,000 or more and will never go below the original contribution. The donor designates the scholarship name. The endowment corpus may increase by receiving future designated contributions. The endowment will be invested in accordance with the Foundation investment policy.
Scholarships are awarded annually when the interest generated by the endowment plus any additional donations reach a level to fully fund the scholarship. The Foundation trustees are responsible for selecting scholarship recipients. The TNLA Foundation is irrevocably dedicated to and is organized exclusively for charitable purposes.  The Foundation receives contributions and distributes funds for educational and research purposes. ​

WAYS TO GIVE TO THE TNLA LEGACY SOCIETY - A GIFT THROUGH YOUR WILL OR ESTATE

Unlock Opportunities, Leave a Legacy: Join the TNLA Foundation's Legacy Society

How it works:

​• Include a bequest to the TNLA Foundation in your will or trust
• Make your bequest unrestricted or direct it to a specific purpose
• Indicate a specific amount or a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate or trust
• Pledge a donation of $10,000 or more

Benefits:
• Your assets remain in your control during your lifetime
• You can modify your gift to address changing circumstances
• Under current tax law, there is no upper limit on the estate tax deduction for your charitable bequests

How do I become a member of the Legacy Society?
​You are already eligible for membership in the Legacy Society if you have made arrangements in your will or through another form of planned gift that either benefits The Foundation directly or uses a Fund or Trust at The Foundation to provide charitable gifts to other organizations.  Simply notify us of your plans by completing the form on the back of this sheet and returning it to The Foundation.
Can someone help me prepare a will or estate plan?
​Yes.  If you contact the Foundation we can provide you with a list of estate planning professionals in our community.  In addition, our staff will be happy to discuss your needs and charitable intent and suggest appropriate options that are customized to meet your philanthropic goals.
​What benefits do I receive as a member of The TNLA Legacy Society?
​Members receive a small token of our appreciation signifying their enrollment in the Legacy Society and will be recognized in our various publications. Most importantly, you gain the benefit of knowing your gift will have a lasting impact on the community for generations to come.
​How will my gift be used by The Foundation?
​The Foundation has a number of different types of gift arrangements to meet a Donor’s specific charitable intentions. Most gifts made to The Foundation ultimately accrue to the Foundation’s permanent Unrestricted Endowment Fund to meet the immediate and emerging scholarship needs to help foster, support and bring young people into our great industry.
